Catalyst

Active environmental protection with ozone-reducing systems. Ozone-reducing systems are used to extract and remove the ozone generated by corona systems.

Advantages offered by the Ahlbrandt catalyst:

Web Cleaning Using Corona Discharge

Purpose and function - The cleaning unit removes loose particles such as dust, paper fibres etc. from the surface of the media to be cleaned. Loose particles are often attracted from the immediate surroundings by the electrostatically charged material and then adhere to the surface until there is a conductive discharge.

In the case of non-conductive materials, such as paper or plastics, the surface charge cannot be removed. Since the material itself is a non-conductor, the environment, in other words the air, has to be rendered conductive.

This involves ionising the air using a very high voltage. As a result the electrostatic charge on the surface can be eliminated.

The cleaning system is contactless in operation. The surface to be cleaned is not impaired. Using this system allows higher production outputs to be achieved by extending the intervals between washing processes during printing and also leads to an improved printing quality.

Test Ink – to measure the surface tension

  • Rapid, convenient test directly on the machine
  • Measuring ranges from 30 to 72 mN/mn (dynes), in increments of 2
  • Low-cost alternative to laboratory measuring instruments
  • Production methods comply with DIN 53 364
  • Storage life of approx. 3 months
  • Bottle size: 15 ml with applicator brush. 250 ml refill bottle
  • Available as a boxed set (8 bottles) or individually

Safety Information: The test inks contain formamide, which can cause irritation to the skin and to the respiratory organs. Avoid direct contact with the skin. Always keep the bottles tightly closed to prevent evaporation of the formamide. Please refer to the information on the safety data sheet!

Optimised Drying Systems

Equally energy-efficient for rotogravure or flexographic printing - as well as laminating processes.

The efficiency of a drying system is determined by many factors. Essentially the drying system should:

  • convey thermal energy
  • evaporate and remove solvents and moisture in keeping with environmental requirements
